About Galana & GEC

Galana is a leading sports management company specializing in athlete representation, based in Poland and operating across Europe at both national and international levels.

When Galana decided to enter the Egyptian market, they chose a bold path:
introducing MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) – a hybrid combat sport combining boxing, wrestling, judo, jiu-jitsu, karate, Muay Thai, and more – at a time when MMA was still relatively unknown to the Egyptian audience.

Together with Galana, The Portal Agency not only built the brand’s presence in Egypt, but also created and launched the first MMA championship under the Galana banner – GEC (Galana Egypt Championship).

Portal was responsible for:

What started as a niche idea became a recognized sports property and a proof of how strategic digital marketing can transform awareness and growth.

The Challenge

Galana was taking its first steps in the Middle East, starting with Egypt and introducing a sport that most people had never seriously followed or understood: MMA.

Key challenges:

In short:

Galana had a powerful idea and event, but no awareness, no education, and no existing demand in Egypt’s MMA space.
Portal’s responsibility was to build the stage, the story, and the audience.

Objectives

Together with Galana, The Portal Agency defined clear objectives:

1. Introduce MMA to the Egyptian audience through clear, educational, and exciting storytelling.

2. Build a strong brand presence for Galana in Egypt and position it as a serious sports management authority.

3. Create and launch GEC as a recognizable MMA championship brand with its own identity and fan base.

4. Drive awareness, engagement, and ticket/sponsorship revenue through digital marketing.

5. Build a long-term digital foundation to support future events such as GEC1, GEC2, and beyond.

Our Strategy

Galana chose to implement a full digital marketing and branding strategy, and The Portal Agency became the partner to lead it.

Our strategic approach focused on four pillars:

1. Branding & Identity (Galana + GEC)

2. Digital Presence & Social Platforms

3. Content-Led Awareness & Education

4. Event Marketing & Sponsorship Activation

The strategy connected:

Execution

1. Branding Galana & Creating the GEC Identity

Portal began with brand creation and visual storytelling:

This ensured that both Galana and GEC looked professional, credible, and exciting from day one.

2. Building the Digital Presence

We then moved to digital presence building:

Social platforms became the main stage to:

3. Content Marketing as the Engine

Content became the core driver of awareness and education:

1- Produced high-quality content tailored to the Egyptian audience:

2- Distributed this content across social media and digital platforms, turning curiosity into understanding and then into interest.

By consistently sharing valuable, clear content, we turned MMA from a mysterious niche into a recognizable sport with real fans.

4. Launching GEC1 and Scaling with GEC2

Portal played a hands-on role in making the championship real:

The result:
GEC became not just a one-off event, but a growing championship platform tied strongly to Galana’s brand.

Results & Impact

The results of the digital and branding efforts were significant and fast-moving:

Galana’s success story is a testament to how strategic digital marketing, branding, and event execution can launch a new sport, a new championship, and a new market presence all at once.
